Each month now, around the 23rd, I get excited for the first whisperings that the Fandom of the Month Club is being shipped. And while Canada get their subscription boxes full of goodies in a few short days, we here in little old’, far away, New Zealand have to wait at least a week. Oh,what a horrible week that is, knowing that your box is on it’s way and rushing to the door every time you even think that there’s a courier van coming down your driveway. It’s around the 1st of the month that the box finally arrives, and there it sits on the doorstep, waiting patiently for you to get home.

Well that, my friends, happened last week on Wednesday. Another month, another amazing fandom-based jewellery subscription box. And this month’s? Just as awesome as the previous two I’ve received. So much so, in fact, that I’ve let my 3 month subscription roll on over for another 3. That’s how much I love these. “Enjough already! Show me the geeky goodness!” All right, all right! This month’s fandom was a smaller one, one that not everyone has embraced, well not here in NZ anyway. June’s box was….Once Upon a Time! Yay!

I love love love this show. It first came out in 2012, which was the first year I was in England, and I remember watching it every week and loving everything about it. And of course the second season…and then we came home to NZ, and all the TV were out of sync and it got lost in the abyss of me trying to figure out what seasons and episodes of what shows I was up. This month, though, I’ve been catching up, and have nearly finished season 3. This FOTMC box definitely gave me a rev up to make OUAT a priority for catching up on. Here’s what was in the box!

Stash Bag

Like all the boxes, included is a stash bag, made of tote-like material, with a quote or saying from the fandom. This month’s is ‘All magic comes at a price, Dearie’ which is something Rumpelstiltskin says. Like usual, it’s wonderful and these little bags are so handy! I’ve used my other ones for taking cords like phone chargers away with me. So great.

Storybook Necklace

If you’re unfamiliar with the show, a giant story book that looks pretty much exactly the same as this, is key to the show. But I feel like even if it wasn’t a key element of the story, this necklace would be so appropriate anyway, because, ah hello, it says ‘Once Upon a Time’ on it…Also, it’s a great length! I find that I like to replace the chain on a lot of necklaces I get because I like mine quite long, but this one is a great length. No chain changing here!

Horse and Carriage double ring

I’ve never owned a double ring like this ever in my life, let alone even worn one. I was a bit scared that it would be uncomfortable, but it’s totally not! The rings are adjustable, and I love this a lot! I’ve already had multiple comments on it! Love!

Fairy Tale Charm Bracelet

This is so pretty! All the charms along this bracelet are from the show/fairy tales in general, and it’s actually so neat to be able to see them all together like this. On it there’s a tree in a circle, an apple, a rose, a pirate ship, a VW Beetle (the main character drives a Beetle in the show), an open book, a skull, a mermaid, a howling wolf, a fairy, a bow and arrow combo, a little tea cup, a crown a bird and an arrow.

I’ve said it before, but I will say it again (and will probably say it next month too), one of the things I love about this subscription box (other than the obvious geekiness of it all) is that even if you’re not a part of that particular fandom, most of jewellery isn’t so obvious that it will bother you that much. Or if might even get you interested in that fandom and you might watch the show, or read the book. I bought a 3 month subscription for my friend Roz as a birthday present, and she received this box as her first one. She hasn’t seen Once Upon A Time, but because all the things in this box are super obviously OUAT (but just fairy tales in general), she was super excited and pumped about it. Who knows? Maybe she’ll even start watching it?

Verdict

Read my initial verdict over at the April box.

Can’t wait for next month! I actually know what next month’s fandom is going to be. I saw a hint on Facebook. I seriously love everything about this subscription box!
