How is NaNoWriMo going?
Unlike most years, this year I’m not actually partaking in National Novel Writing Month. But that doesn’t mean I’m not thinking of you writers out there who are. We’re halfway through November now, and it’s at this stage that I remember getting stuck.
Week one I’m usually on fire. The first ideas for your brilliant story are finally being put on paper. You’re creating intriguing characters who love things like astronomy, or collecting feathers, or climbing mountains. Your plot is going smoothly and you know exactly where you’re going.
By week two, things start to slow down a little. Maybe you’re questioning exactly why your character collects feather. Maybe there’s an obvious plot hole that has emerged and is about to swallow you whole. It’s always by the end of week 2 that I struggle the most.
I hope you’re not struggling like I always seem to be. I hope that you are slamming out your 1,667 words a day and that you are rocking your plot, setting and characters. But should you need a little writing pick-me-up, I’ve collected together another 10 quotes on writing and stories to encourage you to keep going. All these are easily Pinable in vertical form, should you need to save them for more uplifting thoughts later in the month.
