I love the circus.
You may recall my attendance of the past two Cirque Du Soleil performances that New Zealand has had: Totem and Quidam. When a circus tent popped up down in Ellerslie here in Auckland, my friend and I were intrigued and so for her birthday we and another friend headed to see the Weber Bros Circus.
It was amazing. I’m constantly amazed by the circus and all the different acts that there are, and how even if you’ve seen an acrobat fall from the ceiling and live to tell the tale a hundre times, it never gets old.
This circus was a mixture of your standard kind of acts – hoop performers, change-your-clothes-impossibly-fast people, pole performers, a crazy clown, a shiny top-hat wearing host – but it also had motorcycles. Oh my word. The final act was a huge metal 4 meter by 4 meter sphere, and in the sphere 2 guys on a motorcycle each drove around the inside of the ball…and then someone stood in the middle while they did it. And then they added a third (person was gone by this stage) … and then 4 motorcycles inside a sphere that was only 4x4m!! It was so nerve wracking and impressive all at once.
The other cool thing was a human canon (above). Imagine if that was your job? “Yeah, I ah, get shot out of a canon a few times a day … in various countries around the world”. As you do.
If the Weber Bros Circus is ever in your town then it was such a fun afternoon out. It’s a decent price too, so good for the family.
Did you see the Weber Bros Circus when it was in Auckland?
