What a month. July was an odd combination (and I know that I say that often, but it’s true. Perhaps I just live an odd life) of travel, writing, work, and events. Lots of events.
The beginning of the month saw me headed down to Christchurch for my grandmother’s funeral and spending some time with extended family. Then I had a friend staying with me for about a month which was good fun, and I headed down to New Plymouth for the weekend in the middle there too. There will be a post about that coming soon, never fear.
July 29th saw me out from 9:30am till midnight as we celebrated my best friend’s birthday. Brunch, the Auckland Food Show, the Weber Bros Circus, dinner, and Spiderman: Homecoming was the day’s non-stop events, but it was a fantastic day out, no matter how shattered I was the day after. More on the Food Show and the Circus coming soon.
On the blog we had a book haul, some reviews, a lot of Harry Potter, some adventures and a little bit travel.
Favourite pastime? Reading books in cafes. My favourite place to head to and read is a cafe, usually Starbucks but any will do. I love sitting in the corner table or arm chair, back to the wall, the whole cafe in eye-line. I love sipping on chai lattes and diving deep into whatever tome I’ve picked up that week. It’s my favourite thing to do. Some people need music in the background to read, others need silence. I need white noise. Read more!

Song of the Month
This has been out for a while now (though the video only came out about a month ago) but I love this latest song from Scotty McCreery. His songs are so wonderful, and so country, and yes I fangirl, and yes Stampede Country Festival was a little bit much for me. Ahem. Love this song.
Question of the Month
How are you surviving the winter months?
While I can’t complain about the cold because I live in Auckland, it has been chilly even up here. Down to 1 degree Celsius over the weekend, and while that’s not cold in New Zealand standards, that’s cold for Auckland. I have stocked up on new wheatie bags and extra blankets and we’ve finally installed a heat pump. Woop!
