‘Brunch’, you say? Matakana? Count me in.

There’s nothing quite like exploring a market with your friends, especially if that market involves brunch.

Last weekend 3 friends and I headed up north of Auckland to the town of Matakana, and wandered through the weekly market for a few hours. I hadn’t been before, so I can now tick that market off my list.

The market is split into two sections – one which is predominately food, and the other which is more craft, clothes, and jewellery. For brunch, we picked up some delicious crepes and occupied one of the tables for a wee while. My crepe was maple syrup, walnut and banana and was seriously so worth the $9 I paid for it. Of course there were tonnes of other food options: fresh produce, sandwiches, baking, relishes, chocolate, coffee, to name a few.

None of us walked away empty handed, in fact I bought 5 pieces of jewellery and a scarf. And 2 books.

If you haven’t been before and you’re in the area, then I highly recommend it. It’s such a fun morning out, and you can pick up some beautiful things (and delicious things!). Will definitely head up there again.
