This episode had so many things happening in it that I tried to type out what I thought was the plot line but then got terribly turned around and gave up. So this week’s recap is brought to you by Entertainment Weekly. I’m sorry, but also, you’re welcome.
My (short) thoughts on Extremis
I think I watched this when I was too tired, because it was only after I read a recap of the episode that I sort of realised what was really happening. Word of advice: don’t watch Doctor Who when you’ve had a big weekend and you really should be in bed sleeping.
This episode was both confusing and wonderful at the same time.
There was a lot going on, and a lot of aspects which flip-flopped around time and space (more than usual), and then boom. It’s like we were all in the Matrix the entire time.
Finally a confirmation on what we mostly already knew: Missy is the vault. Not that surprising, would have been fun if it were someone else, but we basically knew that was coming, didn’t we?
I really liked how we got a glimpse of the wonderful River Song in this episode. Nardole has her notebook and it’s brought out a few times over the course of the episode. It definitely made me want to head back and rewatch River’s episodes.
The best line in this episode was from Nardole, who pulls out this gem:
Bill: “Are you secretly a badass?”
Nardole: “Nothing secret about it, Babydoll.”
I didn’t manage to see a sneak peek of next week’s episode, but I hear it’s called The Pyramid at the End of the World, which can only mean awesome, right?
What did you think of Extremis?
