5 Sequels I Hope to Read this Summer | 2016 – 2017

Unlike all you folks putting on your woolen jerseys and adding extra blankets to your bed, December means summer in New Zealand. And summer means holidays. A lot of holidays.

The Great New Zealand Clear Out happens between Christmas and into the new year, as the cities clear out and the world shuts down for a while. People usually save up all their annual leave from working during the year so they can extend the already chock-a-block-with-public-holidays week, and get out with their families and friends. I’m exactly the same.

From December 22nd until about the end of January I’m on holiday, and while I’ll be blatting around the country a bit there are things that will happen: jandals will be worn, skin will be tanned, Christmas leftovers will be eaten, and books will be read.

I’ve nearly finished my Good Reads challenge of the year, but there are still some books that I have been meaning to read and I just haven’t got around to it. Thankfully that will change come summer. While there are way more books that I will end up reading, there are at least 5 books in series that I really must read because I’ve had them for too long and I must actually read them, as I enjoyed the previous book.

These are the sequels that I really want to read this summer. Fingers crossed I will make it happen. Check back next week for stand-alones I really want to read this summer too.

It’s been a year, therefore, since I read those ones, so hopefully when I eventually start this, the final in the series, I can actually remember what happened.

I had never even heard of the first in this series, The Bone Season, when I found it for cheap somewhere. But I loved it. A little while back I managed to find The Mime Order (book 2) in a sale, so grabbed that up. Looking forward to continuing this story

The Magicians was one of my favourite books that I read in 2014. It was actually the first book I read when I was back in the country after being in England, so I remember the days rather well. It’s been nearly three years since I read the first one, but luckily it was made into a TV series this past year, so I watched that and am now remembering all about it. I want to read the sequel, The Magician King, before season 2 comes out in 2017.
