No way is it September. I feel like the months are going by faster and faster and soon I’ll be moving into a retirement village with a small dog and a truck load of tea ready to read away the rest of my life. To be completely honest…that actually sounds wonderful. But in the meantime, I will push on with the crazy-fast months ahead.
August was pretty cruisy actually. Normally I’m quite busy, but I found myself with 2 entire weekends with nothing planned this month. At first I was like ‘yes! Weekend to just hang about at home, write some blog posts, do a bit of end-of-winter cleaning’ … yeah. No. I just felt like I needed to be doing things. I got really tired because I wasn’t doing anything other than blobbing around. Apparently I need to be busy. I enjoy being busy and having events and things to plan. It’s really great. So this month was a little bit weird for me.
But that’s okay! Lots of things happened on the blog this month, including the last post of Harry Potter week, which happened in July. It was a spoiler free first look at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and you can read that here. If you want to read the SPOILER RIDDEN book review, you can read that here. I also shared about we threw a Harry Potter party, and how we read the play as it was intended: as a play.
One of the Sunday Songs this month was Comeback Kid by The Band Perry and I love it a lot. Looking forward to their new (TBA announcement date) album. I reviewed Lady Midnight, by Cassandra Clare, shared about my trip to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, and gave you guys a free printable in celebration of Ginny Weasley’s birthday. I reviewed All the Bright Places, by Jennifer Niven, which I read in July, and also The Memory Book by Lara Avery. As well as the monthly Link Lineup and Instagram roundup, I also shared about those long To Be Read piles, and my Wish List from Ikea.
The biggest thing that happened on the month in August was the 6 year blogoversary giveaway! The 29th of August marked 6 entire years since this blog (or some version of it) all began. I just want to say a quick thank you to all of you who have journeyed with me on this adventure. I truly appreciate all of you so much and have loved getting to know some of you. A huge warm welcome to all those who joined us in the month of August – I hope that you enjoy hanging out here on This Splendid Shambles with me.

I feel quite proud of myself actually. I had some TV shows that I was super behind on and wanted to get finished before September when all the other shows start again. I managed to finish iZombie, and also Game of Thrones, and The 100. I started watching Season 5 of Once Upon a Time because I released I was an entire season behind on that and it’s one of my favourite shows. There are so many shows that I’m looking forward to beginning again, and you can read about those here, and then also some of the new shows that are beginning look really great.
How was your August? What did you get up to? What books did you read?
