If you’ve been on the internet at all in the past few days, then chances are you’ve seen Disney fans freaking out over the release of the first teaser trailer for next year’s live action Beauty and the Beast.
I am among those Disney fans freaking out.
Not only does it have the incredible Emma Watson playing Belle, but it has Dan Stevens as the Beast (you’d recognise him as Matthew if you watched Downton Abbey), Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Ewan McGregor as Lumièr, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Maurice, and Josh Gad as LeFou.
I’m sorry, what? Those amazing people all in the same Disney film? Yes please.
While the cast list and the occasional image has been around for a little while now, this week’s trailer was the very first we’ve seen, and, no, it doesn’t show much, but that’s the whole point of a teaser trailer: get people pumped and excited about the eventual release.
Well it worked.
I’m definitely so much more excited for this movie than I was before (if possible), and that sneak peak of Belle reaching for the rose…what can I say? Emma Watson is going to be the perfect Belle (a topic we’ll come back to later in the year, perhaps). Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney movie, tied with The Lion King, so I am so so so looking forward to this.
But for now, we have to wait until 17th March 2017. That’s 10 months. 10 months, my Disney-loving friends. Hopefully there will be more teasers like this one, and more media releases to keep us tied over.
What about you? Excited about this live action movie?
