I never really thought about the fact that one day ‘tomorrow’ would be 2016. Two thousand and sixteen. Years. Twenty Sixteen. It’s a big number, and it’s the year I didn’t even think about when we were huddled in a tent in our living room as children, watching the millennium tick over, waiting for Y2K to not happen. But here we are. We’ve come, once again, like we do every year, to the end of December, and we jump into yet another year.
December was a pretty crazy one. Half of it was spent away from home, and all of January will be the same. I started the beginning of the month at a good friend’s wedding, and the following weekend was spent celebrating my other good friend’s 30th. What a weekend that was! More details of that, and a few posts, coming soon in January.
I finished up work for the year, and for the summer (remember it’s summer here, Northern Hemisphere! No snow to be seen!), and then we headed down to the South Island of NZ for Christmas. After Christmas I headed up to my hometown where I am now, and will be until the end of January, when I will head back to Auckland to really begin the new year.
December on the blog has been a bit patchy. I haven’t been blogging every day, nor have I been really concerned about that. In fact, I’ve tried to avoid it. Everyone is busy over this time of year, me included, and I don’t imagine many people will have time to sit down and read blog posts about other people’s holidays. If I’m wrong, do let me know!
But this month on the blog I’ve shared about our little trip to Franklin Road in Auckland (hellloo Christmas lights!), and about my short adventure to Dunedin at the end of November. November’s Fandom of the Month Club subscription box was amazing (and ohmygosh can’t wait to get December’s box!), and the Nerd Block from November was also a winner. We also looked at 10 things I’ve learnt from Disney’s Mulan, and I remembered how awesome she was. The Colour Cluster this month was nativity themed, and there were some really great colours in it.

Most of the TV shows I watch are having their Christmas break right now, but I have started watching Suits in their absence, and am loving it! It’s always been one of those shows on my list of ones to check out but I never really got there. But I’m nearly finished season 2 and it’s awesome. I’m also catching up on Haven, which is the last Haven ever. The Doctor Who and Downton Abbey Christmas Specials happened, of course, and more about those coming soon! Has anyone seen Reign? I was looking for other period drama – type shows to watch now that Downton has ended (*weeps silently*). My cousin suggested it, so I might check it out.
And that’s December! I hope your last month of 2015 was amazing, and if not, then I hope that January brings you a fresh start. Merry Christmas for last week, and Happy New Years for tomorrow!
