The flights are bought. The hotel is booked. The insurance dealt to. Let the adventure begin.
That’s right, my friends, I’m off to Japan! This is so super exciting! I haven’t been out of the country since we got back from England, nearly two years ago. For those of you living in England, this is probably shocking … but here in little ol’ NZ we don’t have Europe on our doorstep. We have Australia. Sorry, Australia, but it’s just not that exciting as Europe…or Asia. I am hoping to make a trip over to Australia next year, but this year it’s Tokyo for a week!
It’s a bit of a random story how this trip came about. I got a phone call from Roz (you guys remember Roz, right? She and I went to Athens together two years ago) asking me if I wanted to go to Hong Kong. I check my bank account, saw that I couldn’t afford it, and then said ‘heck yes!’. The reasons behind it were that our other friend, Nikki, wanted to head out of New Zealand, and there were super cheap flights from NZ to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. I asked why Hong Kong, and there was no real reason, so I suggested Tokyo instead because, basically, I’d already been to Hong Kong and Singapore and it might be fun to go somewhere none of us had been before. So Tokyo it was! Then I get a message from Roz saying that our other friend Jess was going to come too! What a party!
I contacted our travel agent (the best in New Zealand, by the way. If you’re looking for a travel agent, let me know and I’ll give you his details!), and within a week or so we were booked and ready to go, our bank accounts empty, not-so-patiently awaiting pay day.
We are going for a week (7 nights), and while a lot of you might say ‘what! Only a week!’, it’s all we can afford, and we all have jobs. We don’t have anything set planned, except we’re taking a day trip to Mt Fuji one day, which will be amazing! I really hope it’s a nice day! We will just wing it for the rest of the time. I’ve done a bunch of research as to what we can do while we’re in Tokyo, and I’ll be posting about all the things I’m finding in a few weeks, so look out for that post. I really want to head to Disneyland (like really really), so I am hoping we can make that happen, even if it’s just two of us who go. Worth.It.
So that’s that! Extremely exciting stuff! We head off in exactly a month yesterday (the 18th), and the week that I’m away I’m hoping to have some guest posts lined up for you by some amazing bloggers. Get excited about that.
What I’d like to know, if you’ve made it this far through this post (sorry! It got a little long), is:
