Seeing Singing in the Rain at the Town Hall
One of my favourite genre of movies is old musicals. Movies like Calamity Jane, An American in Paris and My Fair Lady are films that I have seen multiple times and will watch again and again in the future. My favourite movie, however, is Singing in the Rain. I love everything about it. The songs, the characters, Gene Kelly, the dances, Gene Kelly, the storyline, Gene Kelly…
When I saw that the production of Singing in the Rain was coming to Auckland I was very excited. I didn’t get tickets though because I had already spent quite a bit on Backstreet Boys tickets and also going to see Noel Fielding. My bank account would hate me if I went to a third expensive event in the space of a month. But then two of my friends were going (separately), and I got jealous. And a little annoyed that I wasn’t going. So I booked for me and a friend.
And it was awesome. I loved every moment of it, and was so amazed – still am – that they used actual water on the stage…twice! There were a few songs that they did that weren’t in the movie, but they were fun and didn’t take anything away from the story. No cameras were allowed of course, which was a little bit of a bummer because I’m sure that Instagram would love Singing in the Rain, but here are some pictures from the Event Finder website:

If you ever get the chance to go, do it. It was very very well done, and of course it made me want to watch the movie again. I’m very glad that I bought tickets. Super worth it.
